The song was released in the U.S. in 1988 and reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart in the Spring of 1988. When in Rome is a synthpop group. It was initially made up of Clive Farrington (vocals), Andrew Mann (vocals), and Michael Floreale (synthesizers).
